Entering writing contests that snag you a publishing contract is a great way to kick off summer. Authors First has announced its first novel-writing competition, in which the winner could receive $5,000 and a publishing contract. The contest is asking for original works that are more than 40,000 words in length.
If novels aren’t your medium, check out their short story competition, in which up to 20 winners will receive a prize. Just submit your previously unpublished works of less than 20,000 words to the author’s first submission site.
The contests end September 30, 2014. You can find the full rules of the contests and submission details here.
